HBO is the leader in home movie entertainment, with over 30 years of experience and 57 million subscribers worldwide. HBO Asia is the television arm of HBO Pacific Partners, a joint venture of Paramount Films, Sony Pictures Entertainment, Time Warner Entertainment and Universal Studios.

In addition to having exclusive licensing agreement with DreamWorks SKG. In addition, it licenses movies from major independent distributors such as Castle Rock, Franchise, Morgan Creek, New Line, Screen Gems, Studio Canal and Village Roadshow.

HBO Asia offers two channels: HBO, its blockbuster movie channel and CINEMAX, a channel for hits, action and suspense movies. These are distributed by service-providers throughout Asia.

HBO Asia employs 140 staff in Finance and Administration, Legal and Human Resources, Programming and Promotions, Sales and marketing and Technology and Operations.

HBO Asia is headquartered at New Tech Park, Singapore in a 38'000 square foot facility. At the New Tech Park facility, HBO and CINEMAX are programmed, packaged and uplinked to the Apstar satellite. the facility also allows for production and post-production of on-air promotion materials.

The original 20,000 square foot facility was opened in February 1993. It was expanded in late 1996 to allow for the launch of CINEMAX.

In September 2000, HBO Asia launched an ad-supported HBO service in India and South Asia (Pakistan, Maldives and Bangladesh)
